ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

FINAL EXAMS. These two words alone cause more stress among college students more than anything else. This story follows a student, Troy, who must pass a class taught by a hard-nosed teacher who fails everyone. If he fails, his father will remove him from college. He enlists the help of his friends to help him steal the final exam and get away with it. In his path stands his rival, Kurt, who will stop at nothing to see him fail.

Passing The Test comes from the mind of Writer-Director Jason Prugar, who wrote the script in one day following what he calls “the toughest exam of my life.

“I studied for one of my exams for six hours, longer than I had studier for ANYTHING in my entire life. I got a C-minus. A buddy in class with me has similar woes, and he said, ‘The only way we could’ve passed is if we stole the exam.’ So I sat down and wrote the story of a hard-nosed teacher who failed everyone and the theft of the exam. “

His friends, who were very interested in working with Jason after the success of his first film, The Prize, auditioned for the role. In one week, he had a cast and dove into pre-production. Three weeks later, filming began, and a month of post led to the final film. It took a total of three months from start to finish. The film was shot at Jason’s alma mater, Alvernia College, in Reading, PA. Instrumental in the choice of location was Suzanne Miller.  Her job as Director of Student Activities allowed Jason to shot anywhere on campus.

After screening the film at the World Premiere, at Alvernia, Passing The Test was garnered with praise.  The cast and crew were impressed, as was Jason.

“I wrote this film being upset at my own professor. It’s an interesting story that my friends at school and schools around the country can relate to. I hope everyone who sees it enjoys it.”

   DIRECTOR BACKGROUND

Everyone has a day that changes his or her life. For

Jason Prugar, it came on a cold winter day in 1998. As

the Student Government Treasurer of Alvernia College,

he joined the other officers before a meeting to watch a

video made by a friend. What he saw amazed him.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Jason said. “I thought that it was

impossible to do unless you were Warner Brothers. It

totally changed my life.”

Jason voraciously read every book on the subject of

filmmaking, from writing screenplays to lighting. Already

halfway to a degree in sport management, he decided that

film school wasn’t in his plans. Instead, he made two films

in the next year, having both screened at the New York

International Independent Film and Video Festival, as well

as the Indiekino Online Film Festival.

After graduation in 2001, Jason got a job with a minor

league hockey team in Atlantic City, NJ, the Atlantic City

Boardwalk Bullies. He was part of the organization when

they won the 2003 East Coast Hockey League’s Kelly Cup

Championship. He continues to write screenplays, and has

many finished screenplays “in development.” He oversees

Stunod Pictures Entertainment, a group of friends who

produce his films. You can learn more about his work at

www.stunodpictures.com.
